Higher Degree Conferring Ceremony takes place at RCSI

The first ceremony as part of the RCSI June Conferring Week 2015 took place on Wednesday 3rd June, with 27 candidates graduating at the Higher Degree Conferring Ceremony which took place in the College Hall.

From the School of Postgraduate Studies, there were three Master of Science (MSc) by research candidates, three Doctor of Medicine (MD) graduates and ten Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduates. The graduates carried out cutting-edge research in areas including tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; respiratory medicine; neonatology; chemistry; psychiatry; endocrinology; and health services research. Their research will contribute to our understanding of a range of diseases including diabetes, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, lupus and colorectal cancer. The group consists of graduates from Ireland, India, Uganda, and France.
From the School of Pharmacy, eleven candidates were conferred with degrees of Master in Pharmacy (MPharm).

As higher degree candidates, I applaud their commitment to on-going education and research and their contribution to world-class innovative research at RCSI. The conferring ceremony is a testament to many years of hard work and marks a new beginning in what promises to be fruitful careers in scientific and research and pharmacy practice. With the rich mix of nationalities, our RCSI graduates will be making a difference worldwide by contributing to advances in health and patient care for future generations."
