Association of Medical and Dental Graduates’ AGM and Annual Lecture

The Association of Medical and Dental Graduates’ AGM and Annual Lecture took place on Friday, 29th of April 2016.

As part of this year’s AGM, and in accordance with Association’s constitution, Mr Mayilone Arumugasamy (Class of 1993 and FRCSI) was elected as the President of the Association. He now takes over the charge from Dr Mary Davin-Power (Class of 1982) who served as President from 2014-2016.

Mr Arumugasamy’s first duty as President was to elect the Officers of the Association for his two-year term. He proposed the following who were seconded and deemed elected by Alumni in attendance:

  • Vice-President, Dr Antonia Lehane (Class of 1982)
  • Honorary Secretary, Dr Sara Gallagher (Class of 1987)
  • Treasurer, Dr Patrick Troy (Class of 1986)

Mr Arumugasamy then proposed two new members to the Association who were seconded and elected by Alumni present:

  • Dr Amanda Browne (Class of 1994)
  • Dr Michelle Egan (Class of 1989)

The Association also presented two student donations on the night. The first, the Association's Best Society Award, to the RCSI Environmental Society and the second, the annual charitable donation, to Niteline a listening, support and information service run by and for the students of NCAD, RCSI, TCD, NUIM, ITB and their affiliate colleges.

The AGM was followed by a lecture on "Art & Anatomy" delivered by Professor Clive, Professor of Anatomy, RCSI. The evening closed with an informal supper in the College Boardroom.
