RCSI Bahrain Alumni Reception 2018

27 November 2018

The annual RCSI Bahrain Alumni Reception at the University campus attracted over 70 attendees, including representatives of the first graduating Class of 2010, right up to the most recent Class of 2018.

Also in attendance senior members of academic and administrative staff as well as members of the RCSI Council, including President, Mr Kenneth Mealy, and graduates of RCSI Dublin who reside in Bahrain.

During the Reception, alumni of RCSI Bahrain’s first graduating cohort of 2010 were recently named as the inaugural recipients of RCSI Bahrain Alumni Inspiring Excellence Portraits.

Asma AlNajjar, Eman AlJahmi and Dr Aymen Bukannan were selected by a panel as being distinguished graduates and offering inspiration to current students and visitors to the University.

The awards were presented by RCSI President, Mr Kenneth Mealy, and RCSI Bahrain Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of School of Medicine, Professor Joe McMenamin.

Ms AlNajjar and Ms AlJahmi were both part of the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Class of 2010 and have gone on to take on senior nursing roles at two of Bahrain’s biggest hospitals, with the latter graduating from the MSc in Nursing programme earlier this year.

2010 School of Medicine valedictorian, Dr Bukannan meanwhile, could not be present on the night due to his commitments as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Archbold Medical Centre in Georgia, USA, but did send a video message to the assembled guests.
