The Colles Institute
The Colles Institute is an Institute dedicated to advancing surgical education, training and practice. Since its foundation in 1784, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has been responsible for training surgeons and maintaining surgical standards in Ireland.
The Colles Institute endeavours to ensure that the RCSI continues to meet the future needs of surgical patients and surgeons.
The Institute’s goal is to enhance the care of the surgical patient by extending the frontiers of clinical standards, both therapeutic strategies and technologies, and by providing education and training to enable the rapid transfer of these standards into practice. Its activities are primarily in surgical practice, education and training, research and technology innovation.
The Institute combines the following centres all of which can be visited through the navigational menu on the left side of this page:
- National Surgical Training Centre - NSTC (Education & Training)
- The Centre for Research and Development - CR&D
