Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Coláiste Ríoga na Máinleá in Éirinn

Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology was established in 1985 and Psychology was recognised as core discipline in the RCSI medical curriculum in 1987. Our Department was the first Psychology Department established in a Medical School in Ireland. We currently have 12 full-time academic staff across three continents (Ireland, Bahrain and Malaysia).

Our primary goal is to provide education and training in behavioural science for undergraduate and postgraduate health care professional students.

The Department makes a significant contribution to the profile of health services, population health and psychosocial research within the College and has an international reputation for health psychology research. In addition, we actively contribute to the Health Psychology community both nationally, at European level and internationally.

These activities, along with our contribution to teaching in the College, are outlined in more detail below. Please feel free to contact us if you need any additional assistance.
