Division of Population Health Sciences

The Division of Population Health Sciences was established in RCSI in 2006, with the aim of developing a critical mass of academics from multi-disciplinary backgrounds to work collaboratively on undergraduate and postgraduate course development and teaching, and to conduct interdisciplinary research.

Since 2016, the Division comprises of the academic Departments of Psychology and of Epidemiology and Public Health Medicine, as well as the Data Sciences Centre, the HRB Research Leader Unit, and the SPHeRE (Structured Population and Health-services Research Education) Programme. The Division incorporates a wide range of disciplines with expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, health psychology, health services research, pharmacoepidemiology, public health medicine and social science.

The Division has more than 50 staff members and is located in Beaux Lane House. We have a governance structure based on mutual academic collaboration between our departments, led by our respective heads, Prof. Anne Hickey (Serving Head of Division - Psychology) and Prof. Ruairi Brugha (Epidemiology and Public Health Medicine).
