The RCSI Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is staffed with an extensive range of consultants providing all aspects of healthcare for women.

Whether the patient’s needs are related to obstetric care or gynaecologic issues, specialist services can be easily accessed by both patients and their general healthcare providers.

Patient Services - Obstetrics

  • Early Pregnancy Assessment (Viability Scan 7-11 weeks) Ultrasound scan confirming pregnancy viability and dates: €100
  • First Trimester Screening (Nuchal Translucency 11- 13.5 weeks) The FTS test provides parents with an accurate assessment of chances that their baby may be affected by Down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities. This FTS test can identify about 90% of cases of Down syndrome: €250
  • Panorama Prenatal Test (Non-invasive prenatal testing of cell-free DNA) Genetic testing performed from 9 weeks of pregnancy onwards includes blood draw and ultrasound dating scan. Panorama is a non-invasive prenatal screening test. It gives you a personalised risk score and tells you if your baby is at high risk or low risk for certain genetic conditions such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, PATAU syndrome or Triploidy. This panorama test has a 99.9% detection rate: €450
  • Panorama SMART Screening Non-invasive DNA screen for fetal chromosomal abnormalities including 22q11.2 deletion (DiGeorge syndrome): €350
  • Harmony Prenatal Test (Non-invasive prenatal testing of cell-free DNA)Genetic testing performed from 10 weeks of pregnancy onwards including blood draw and ultrasound dating scan. Harmony is intended for detection of common fetal Trisomies in pregnancy of at least 10 weeks gestation. This Harmony test has a 99.9% detection rate. Available for multiple births: €450
  • Second Trimester Screening (Nuchal Translucency 14- 21 weeks)This test measures the levels of 4 proteins normally found in the blood during pregnancy. Based on the levels of these 4 proteins, mother’s age and the results of a detailed ultrasound scan we can calculate the chances of the baby having Down syndrome or other chromosomal problems such as T18 or Spina bifida: €250 
  • Fetal Anomaly Scan (Detailed anatomy scan 19-24 weeks)This is a detailed head to toe ultrasound examination of the fetal anatomy. The baby’s brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, kidney’s, bladder, limbs are carefully examined to provide reassurance regarding fetal health: €200
  • Chorionic Villus Sampling (definitive invasive testing carried out between 10-14 weeks) Performed under clinical setting in the Fetal Assessment Unit at the Rotunda Hospital: €250 (rapid result within 72 hours €500)
  • Amniocentesis (definitive invasive testing carried out between 15 weeks onwards) Performed under clinical setting in the Fetal Assessment Unit at the Rotunda Hospital: €250 (rapid result within 72 hours €500)
