Mastering Adverse Outcomes

Overview

This workshop is ran in conjunction with the Medical Protection Society (MPS), and is held on-site in RCSI, Dublin 2. This course provides you with skills to combat the common causes of complaints and claims. In particular, this workshop highlights the importance of recognising patient expectations when an adverse outcome occurs, and how failing to address them increases the risk of patients turning elsewhere for answers and accountability.

  • Enhance your skills to communicate with patients who have suffered an adverse outcome
  • Increase your understanding of ethical, regulatory, legal and professional obligations following an adverse outcome, including duty of disclosure
  • Understand the cultural and legal implications of expressing regret
