RCSI MyHealth Transition Year Programme: Dublin

RCSI MyHealth Transition Year Programme offers a five-day experience for transition year students interested in a career in medicine.

The programme is designed to give the students from all over Ireland the opportunity to experience what it is like to train and work as a doctor.

All sections of the programme are carried out by leading professionals in their respective areas with a wide variety of topics – including human anatomy, forensic medicine, surgery, obstetrics and paediatrics, psychiatry, and medicine, including emergency medicine, cardiology, respiratory disease, renal disease and family practice – being covered during the programme.

It takes place in RCSI, 123 St Stephen's Green and in Beaumont Hospital. This programme is run annually. In 2018, the programme will run from Monday, 26 February until Friday, 2 March.

2018 application process and timeline

September 2017

  • Registration for the schools lotto is now closed. Late registrations cannot be facilitated. We will be in touch with all schools who registered over the next few weeks to let them know if they have been successful in getting a place on the programme.

October 2017

  • 2 October: Schools will be notified as to whether they have been successful/unsuccessful in lottery draw.
  • 31 October: Schools must register selected student by this date.

 

Please note

  • Student selection is at the schools discretion. RCSI takes no part in the selection process.
  • Successful schools will be given one place only, and further information will be provided on how to register the student.
  • If a school fails to register a student by the 31 October deadline, the schools place will be released and another school chosen from the waiting list by lottery draw.
