On campus accommodation
The RCSI on campus accommodation is known as Mercer Court. It comprises two buildings, Mercer Apartments and Millin House, both of which are conveniently located beside the RCSI Library (The Mercer Library) and within a two-minute walk from the main College campus.
In September 2011, RCSI assumed the management of the on-campus accommodation from an external commercial provider and the management of the accommodation complex now sits within the RCSI Student Services Office. In addition to a change of management, the College has also undertaken a complete refurbishment of the buildings: Phase 1 in 2011, Phase 2 over the summer of 2012, with the final Phase completed in 2013.
Why stay on campus?
RCSI recognise that the challenge of beginning life as a new student extends beyond the individual student and that it is often the parents who worry most. Beginning life as a College student is exciting, if a little daunting. Living on campus, particularly in the early years of the academic programme, offers many advantages.
Choosing the area of the city to live in can be difficult, particularly for students who are not familiar with Dublin. Mercer Court is located within a two minute walk from the College and directly beside the College Library. This makes life as a student very easy, as you can walk to and from lectures.
Mercer Accommodation is also at the heart of Dublin and is surrounded by shops, cafés, restaurants, so everything is literally on your doorstep, from a coffee in Starbucks to tea bags in the local supermarket.
Mercer Accommodation has a dedicated accommodation manager who manages the complex and is on duty during normal office hours. There is 24/7 security to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents. This provides a level of comfort to both the student and the parent.
