Frances Cronin coordinates the Health Research Board-funded MedTrack study. MedTrack is Ireland's first medical graduate career tracking study and aims to report, analyse and track the specialty choices, career intentions and early career decisions made by Irish medical graduates, including decisions to work full or part-time, leave medicine, or emigrate.

Her research experience is varied. As Study Coordinator for an Ireland-wide twin study (1,000 twin pairs), she examined the early-years environmental determinants of physical development and mental health. More recently, working with a large Dublin-based historical cohort, she was responsible for coordinating a pilot/scoping study which linked - for the first time - early adult anthropometric measurements recorded in the early 1900s to archived lifetime health records. These data will be used to facilitate further research including the association between BMI in early adulthood with health in later years.
