Dr Paul Kavanagh


Dr Paul Kavanagh is a Specialist in public health medicine with the HSE and Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health Medicine, RCSI.

He has worked extensively in the area of clinical and professional governance between the Department of Health, HSE and Medical Council in Ireland. Currently, he is Public Health Lead for the implementation of Tobacco Free Ireland in the HSE and for population health planning in primary care.

He is interested in secondary analysis of routine data and large health surveys to better inform policy and practice, and is currently estimating tobacco-attributable morbidity and mortality in Ireland and utilising Health Behaviour of School Children, Healthy Ireland and The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) surveys to evaluate progress and determine priorities for tobacco control in Ireland.
