Ronan Conroy


Professor Ronán Conroy (BA, MusB, DipEd, DSc) is Professor of Health Research Methods in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health Medicine and Head of the Data Science Centre.

He co-ordinates the Evidence Based Health course in the undergraduate programme. In the postgraduate programme, he co-ordinates a research methods module in the SPHeRE PhD programme, and is co-director of the MSc in Health Research Methods.

His research interests are broad, with publications in the areas of health psychology, cardiovascular risk, psychiatry and female genital cutting. He ran the field trials that provided the first evidence of the effectiveness of solar disinfection of drinking water (SODIS) in the prevention of childhood dysentery.
