Current position: Biochemistry lecturer

Biography: Dr Claire McCoy obtained her BA (Mod) in Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin, 2001 and her PhD in Cell SIgnalling from the University of Dundee, Scotland in 2006. She returned to Trinity College Dulblin and completed a postdoctoral position in Innate Immunology during which time she was awarded a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship. She joined the Hudson Institute, Melbourne as a Research Fellow in 2010 and Monash University, Melbourne as a Teaching Associate in 2015. She joined RCSI as Biochemistry lecturer in August 2016.

Teaching:   Dr Claire McCoy teaches Immunology in integrated courses in the Direct and Graduate Entry Medicine Programmes and in the School of Pharmacy.
She teaches Enzymology, Biotechnology and Immunotechnology in the School of Pharmacy.

Research Areas: Innate Immunology in Inflammatory diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Interleukin Signalling in Macrophages, microRNA modulation and therapeutic application.
