Current position:  Biochemistry Lecturer and Deputy Director of Graduate Entry Medicine Programme   

Biography:  Marian completed her BSc. in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2001. In 2006, she was awarded her PhD at RCSI investigating the mechanisms involved in S. aureus interactions with platelets, ultimately identifying novel compounds for the treatment of sepsis. She continued as a postdoctoral researcher investigating biomarkers for unstable coronary plaque. Marian was appointed as a Biochemistry Lecturer at RCSI in 2010 and now leads a team identifying and developing novel bioactive compounds for the treatment of malaria, sepsis, thrombosis and immune modulation. She commence the role of Deputy Director of Graduate Entry Medicine Programme, September 2018.
