School of Pharmacy  Welcome to the School of Pharmacy Pharmacy is the study of medicine. Today medicines are becoming a lot more complex due to significant advances in our understanding of how the body deals with drugs at both the genetic and the protein level. Studying pharmacy holds the key to a vast array of career pathways as a medicines expert which includes careers in patient care, industry, research and development, academia and healthcare management.  The School of Pharmacy at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland is situated in the heart of the city centre of Dublin on the St. Stephens Green campus, which is shared with the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy. The Pharmacy course we offer is an exciting, dynamic, innovative course with close integration with the medical school. Class sizes are small (50 students per annum) comprising leaving-certificate students (through the CAO), graduate students and international students. To ensure career development is optimal, all students enrolled in RCSI are given their own personal mentor. Pharmacy at the Royal College of Surgeons is a four-year course, leading to the degree of B.Sc. (Pharmacy). The course fulfils the requirements of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland for a degree in pharmacy. After graduation and following successful completion of a one-year period of professional training, you will be eligible for registration as a practising pharmacist. The course also fulfils European Directive requirements for the practice of pharmacy. The course is a balance of scientific and professional training. It is much more than a series of lectures. It is interactive, making use of modern teaching technologies. Specially designed self-learning modules supplement lectures. Many topics are taught by problem-based methods, to simulate real-life situations. At the beginning of the course students receive a laptop computer that provides the access point to on-line teaching.

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland has an open day (usually first week of January) of which several members of the academic staff of the School of Pharmacy are there to answer any questions you might have.  How to contact us:Tel +353-1-402 2410, Fax: +353-1-402 2765Email:
