Biography

Louise Keating qualified from UCD School of Physiotherapy, Dublin in 1992. She subsequently worked in St. Vincent’s Hospital, the National Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Dublin and University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. She was awarded a Masters in Manipulative Physiotherapy Studies from University of Queensland, Brisbane in 1999 and spent the following 15 months touring with an international dance company, as chief medical officer and physiotherapist. She set up a private practice on the north side of Dublin in 2001, where she continues to work clinically today. She joined the RCSI School of Physiotherapy as a part-time lecturer in 2003 and has been full-time since 2005. She has also taught post-graduate spinal courses to physiotherapists in the US and Ireland; in the latter case, on behalf of the Chartered Physiotherapists in Musculoskeletal Therapy (CPMT) clinical interest group of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). She authored the CPMT Postgraduate Spinal Series Course manual template for Cervical, Thoracic & Lumbar Spine courses in 2004-2005. She contributes to MSc musculoskeletal programmes in UCD and is a Clinical Specialist in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. She has also been involved, at executive level, in the ISCP and has previously served a 2 year term as Public Relations Officer. She is currently on the ISCP's Professional Development Standing Committee and was awarded specialist membership of the ISCP in 2015 in the area of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. She received the RCSI President's Teaching Award for Excellence in 2010.

She is also registered for a PhD (part-time) under the supervision of Prof. Ciaran Bolger, Dr. Dara Meldrum and Dr. Catherine Doody (UCD) and is currently the principal investigator for the PACeR trial - A Randomised Controlled Trial of Multimodal Physiotherapy for Patients with Acute / Sub-acute Cervical Radiculopathy, funded by EuroSpine.
