David Walsh BSc (Pharm), MPharm, MPSI
PhD Student

David graduated with a BPharm from University College Cork (UCC) before subsequently receiving an MPharm from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Prior to commencing his PhD David worked in a number of varied environments including roles as a research aide in the School of Pharmacy UCC, an industrial regulatory environment and most recently as a community pharmacist. He is currently in the second year of his PhD in the areas of advanced drug delivery and tissue engineering under the co-supervision of Professor Sally-Ann Cryan (School of Pharmacy), Professor Fergal O'Brien (Dept. of Anatomy) and Professor Andreas Heise (Dept. of Chemistry). His research is focused on the use of novel polymeric materials to delivery therapeutic nucleic acid molecules from biomaterial scaffolds for orthopaedic tissue engineering applications. David's research interests include advanced drug delivery systems for nucleic acid therapeutics, tissue engineering and medical devices.
