In Nov 2008 Maria Creed became the first Drug Safety Facilitator to be appointed in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. There she is responsible for overseeing medication incident reporting and implementing all drug safety initiatives. Additionally she is an active member of the national group, the Irish Medication Safety Network. Prior to this Maria worked in a wide range of clinical areas, including intensive care, nephrology, emergency services and also was appointed as the first Heart Lung Transplant / Pulmonary Hypertension Pharmacist in Ireland in 2003. Previously Maria worked in Beaumont Hospital where she pursued an MSc in Hospital Pharmacy through Trinity College. Other professional interests include education and in the past Maria has lectured and tutored on under- and post-graduate pharmacy courses in Trinity College and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, as well as contributing to UCD's Medical Undergraduate ‘Professional Completion' module and to their Medical School's ‘Diploma in Risk Management'. She was also a contributor and presenter on the inaugural HPAI Clinical Skills course. In June 2014, Maria was promoted to Honorary Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy.
