RCSI Mens GAA Kick Off The Season

06 October 2016

Congratulations RCSI Mens GAA

The men's GAA had their first league game of the season last night. Great to get the season off to a winning start against a strong IT Tallaght team in Clann Na Gael on a score line of 1-15 to 3-10.

 GAA Oct 2016

The first half was a story of missed goal chances from RCSI with Emmet Farrington, Calum Quinn and Ian Kelly all missing from close range when it seemed easier to score. RCSI still led by 3 points at break thanks to a penalty from team captain Paddy Farrell after Paul Fox was unceremoniously dragged to the ground, the Tallaght corner back lucky to escape the dreaded black card punishment and a classy finish from Ciaran Fitzgerald after some very good team work out the field.

The second half was an equally close affair with Paddy Farrell again scoring a penalty after Ian Kelly tried to walk the ball into the net but failed after being pulled down. The last 15 minutes was backs to the walls stuff from the RCSI defenders but thanks to a heroic goal line clearance from Fionn Maguire and a majestic block from debutant Aaron Whelan we made it over the line.

Some great performances from some of the new players such as Aaron Whelan, John Reynolds and Barry McHale. While some of the old stalwarts shone through again namely Ciaran Fitzgerald, Paddy Farrell and Fionn Maguire.
