The Life Raft Debate is a comical debate where we imagine that there has been a nuclear war, and the survivors (students in audience) are setting sail to rebuild society from the ground up.  There is a group of academics (RCSI professors) vying to get on the raft, and only one seat is left.  Each speaker has to argue that his/her discipline is the one indispensable area of study that the new civilization will find most useful in rebuilding society.

The debate was filled with laughter and cheer throughout, with many witty rebuttals by each speaker. They certainly spared no expense to mock the other panelists.
