Over 600 guests attended, including some notable RCSI personalities with their graduating family members, including Prof Mary Leader and her daughter, Dr Elizabeth Keeling, former RCSI president Prof Frank Keane and his daughter Dr Sarah Grace Keane, and current RCSI Vice-president Prof John Hyland and his daughter Susan.

The evening kicked off with a wine reception, followed by a three-course meal. Dr Sami Backley welcomed graduates, their families and friends, as well as attending staff. Irish Dance troupe DAMHSA then took to the stage with a wonderful demonstration of Irish dancing, which was greatly appreciated by a truly international audience. Most popular of all where the audience volunteers who braved the stage and tried Irish-style dancing for themselves. With the excitement apparently at an end, the Blues Brothers Band entered the fray, with some good old Blues and Rock’n Roll numbers to keep guests on their feet, ensuring that the dance floor was permanently occupied. Finally, DJ Trevor took to the stage and kept the show on the road until the early hours of the morning.

The Graduation Ball, which is organised annually by the Student Services Office, concludes the RCSI Graduation Week and offers graduates the opportunity to celebrate their achievement with family and friends.
