RCSI College Ball 2015

The annual RCSI College Ball took place on Saturday, 14 March. Over 700 students attended the black tie event, which was held in the Aviva Stadium. The appropriate theme of the night was  ‘Aviva Las Vegas’.

During dinner, the Sports Clubs and Societies Awards were announced. Sonia Ruparell and Lenin Ekpotu from the RCSI Sports Union awarded prizes to the following recipients:  

  • Sports Man of the Year 2015 – Fahad Alabdullatif
  • Sports Woman of the Year 2015 – Zahratulfatin Mohd Mahfoz
  • Sports Club of the Year 2015 – Climbing
  • Captain of the Year 2015 – Sayed Mahmood Alawi
  • Professor Alan Johnson Perpetual Trophy for Excellence in Sport – Donnachadh Walsh

May-Anh Nguyen, Societies Officer, presented the Societies awards:

  • Society of the Year 2015 – Divercsity
  • Societies Person of the Year 2015 – Nikita Rane
  • Fresher of the Year 2015 – Hassan Shaikh
  • Best New Society 2015 – Divercsity
  • Event of the Year 2015 – Chocolate Ball.

 

A special 'Thank You ' to Mr Eric Clarke for his continued support and commitment to the student body in organising the voting polls. 

Dr Mary Davin Power presented The Association of Medical and Dental Graduates Societies Award to the Paediatric Society.

The Student’s Union President, Mr Vincent Healy, addressed the audience with a brief recap of the SU ‘year that was’. He thanked his team for all their hard work and dedication. Additionally, Mr Healy expressed thanks to Student Services, Dean Hannah McGee and Vice Dean Orna Tighe for their help and support throughout the year.

 

Members of the Music Society ensured that all guests were suitably entertained. The night was a huge success. Special thanks must go to Daniel Creegan, SU Events Officer, and the SU for organising the Ball and the many other events throughout the academic year 14/15.
