Clubs & Socs Sign Up Day

14 September 2014

New students were treated to a tantalising display of colour, taste, costume and music at this year’s Clubs & Societies Sign Up Day on Wednesday, 10 September. The Exam Hall and Basketball Court at 123 St Stephen’s Green were filled with enthusiasm, energy, passion and great RCSI spirit.

RCSI clubs & societies decked out their stands to attract incoming students to sign up to their club/society.

There was a real buzz as Freshers were invited to sample the ample RCSI extracurricular offering.

Chess claimed first prize as “Best Stand of the Day” with their hanging chess board, which gave newcomers an opportunity to see how the game is played. It also inspired several matches.

GAA (Ladies & Mens) won the “Best Club Stand” with their colourful exhibition. Their demonstration of the national sport generated particular interest amongst international students, who were eager to take part and find out more.

The Royal Players had their costume chest out, while AMSA donned their pompoms to motivate those hoping to practise medicine in the States.

New societies such as the Psychology Career Society joined a host of long-standing and traditional societies, including Surgical Society, Biological Society, Debating and ISOC (Islamic Society). Friends of MSF won “Best Society Stand”.

The clubs were joined by RCSI’s newest addition, Ladies Rugby, as well as established clubs, such as Polo, Soccer and the Climbing Club.

Be it academic, sporty, artistic or just fun, all aspects of student life were well and truly covered.
