Fresher's Week

19 September 2014

Fresher’s Week, which is hosted annually by the RCSI Student Union, started on Monday, 8 September when 470 new students were welcomed by staff and ongoing students alike. After an intense day of induction and orientation events, it was time to relax. The President’s Reception on Monday evening was well attended by new students, parents, family members and friends. This was followed by an SU event in the Coffee Dock, where everyone enjoyed a slice or two of pizza.

Tuesday evening was another great evening with a joint event by the RCSI Islamic Society (ISOC) and the SU, a good opportunity to meet, mingle and make new friends. On Wednesday the students gathered for the Fresher's Fiesta hosted by the Pharmacy Society.

Thursday, 11 September, saw one of the main events of the week: the annual (and always much anticipated) Fresher’s Festival in Dardistown. Students new and old danced the night away to Keywest and had a bounce or two on the inflatables. The night was enjoyed by over 250 students. Another annual favourite, the Fresher’s Week Ballad Session, took place on Friday night. Student attended en masse to hear their fellow students perform for them. The finale of the week was the White Party hosted by the Caribbean-African Society in Club M.
