RCSI dominate FEDS in opening round of the Hospitals Cup

RCSI v Feds

The Hospitals Cup has been played every year since 1881 (with the exception of 1916-1917 and 1945-1946) making it the longest running rugby competition in Ireland.

RCSI's Beaumont Hospitals' Cup team had a great start to the season beating the Fed's 12-6. By half time Beaumont were trailing 0-6. The second half saw Gary Fenn, 4th Med, score the first try from the back of the maul, Aungus Lloyd, GEM Med 2 , followed with a try as a result of a penalty with a convertion from Eoin Cleere, 3rd Med.

"The much anticipated Hospitals' Cup campaign has kicked off with a hard fought win over Trinity's Fed's team. Plenty of enthusiasm and heart from the lads got us over the line earning the perfect start, not without a few knocks along the way for both sides.

We've a fantastic team this year and we're all looking forward to the Vets game next week. A massive thank you to the students and consultants alike who supported us on the night and for their continued support through the competition.

Fair play to all the lads and we're all hoping for another win to edge us ever closer to the final." -Martin Davey, Team Captain, Final Med

Well done to Martin and the team, we are terribly excited to see how the season progresses.

We are thrilled to announce Juliet Short as our new head coach for both the hospitals and club team and to welcome her to the team.
