RCSI were knocked out by tournament favourites DCU on Monday. They regrouped on Tuesday for the Spillane cup. In a tight encounter, they lost out to Mary I (Limerick) going down 3-1 with Fionn Lynch scoring. A strong performance in the afternoon match saw RCSI run out worthy 3-1 winners against the University of Ulster. An own goal, another Fionn Lynch strike and an Eoghan Farrell penalty saw RCSI take second place in the Spillane cup, a subsidiary cup of the Collingwood cup for Universities eliminated in the opening round.
