Head of TERG speaks at the SFI Research Centres Launch

Fergal O'Brien was invited to take part in a discussion panel at the launch of Science Foundation Ireland's four new world-class Research Centres.

Prof. O'Brien, deputy Director of the AMBER SFI Research Centre for Advanced Materials and Bioengineering, was part of a panel discussing the achievements of the SFI Research Centre programme to date and the impact it has had on Irish Research. The launch took place at Dublin Caste (Sept. 7th).

The four new centres (including the RCSI-led FutureNeuro centre which aims to tackle neurological diseases including epilepsy and motor neurone disease) represent a government investment of €74 million over the next six years, plus an additional investment of €40 million from industry. The centres will support cutting-edge basic and applied research with strong industry engagement, driving economic benefits and positive societal impact.
