Galway Clinic hosts PA students

The first year Physician Associate students were recently invited by CEO Joe O'Donovan and Medical Director, Prof. Anthony Cunningham to spend a day at the state-of-the-art Galway Clinic. The group were given a tour of the clinic which has over 120 consultants specialising in over 60 different specialities.

The day featured a series of presentations from speakers including Mr David Bouchier-Hayes, Consultant Urology Surgeon and Dr Kathleen Cronin, Consultant in Palliative Care Medicine. Alyson Banks, Patient Safety Executive presented on patient safety and risk management.

Chief information officer, Raphael Jaffrezic explained the benefits of the electronic medical record system at Galway Clinic and Niamh Laffey (nursing) discussed their electronic National Early Warning Score system. The day ended with a presentation by the Head of HR, JJ Beirne, on the merits of living and working in the west of Ireland.
