Research Day 2011 showcases most recent research at RCSI

Over 300 researchers attended RCSI Research Day 2011 which took place in the College on Wednesday, 6th April 2011.  This annual forum provides RCSI scientists with the opportunity to showcase their most recent research findings and emphasises the importance of research within the College. Research Day also recognises the varied areas of research across the different disciplines in RCSI.

The Opening Address was delivered by Professor Cathal Kelly, CEO, who spoke about the vital role that research plays in the institution and highlighted some of the significant achievements of RCSI researchers in recent months.

Best Post-graduate Poster Presentation: €250
Pictured (l-r) is Dr Garry Duffy, Lecturer in Anatomy; and Mr Ting Chu (Ken) Liu, 3rd Year Medical Student, who recieved the Dr. Harry O’Flanagan Prize for the Best Undergraduate Oral Presentation which is generously supported by Dr. Yacoob Kadwa, RCSI graduate (Class of 1965).

The emphasis for the day was on oral and poster presentations by Investigators early in their career, Post-doctoral Fellows, Post-graduate and Undergraduate Scholars and Academic Staff. All oral presentations and poster presentations were judged and awards were presented at an evening ceremony.

Also at this evening's award ceremony, was the inaugural Mr Kamal Sayed Prize in Neurosurgery. This prestigious award is run in conjunction with the Irish Institute of Clinical Neuroscience and generously supported by Dr Yacoob Kadwa, (RCSI class of 1965).
