Medicine Graduate Entry Programme

The RCSI Graduate Entry Programme (GEP) is designed for students who have completed a primary degree in another discipline and have now made the mature decision to pursue a medical degree.

The class size for this programme is 60 half of whom are EU students, half non EU.

EU applicants:
EU applicants to the programme apply through the Central Applications Office www.cao.ie The course code for RCSI graduate entry medicine is RC 101. Full details in relation to the application procedure are available on the CAO website.

Applicants must have completed or expect to complete by the summer 2009 an honours degree (level 8) with a minimum grade second class honours (2.1). The degree can be in any discipline and all applicants will be required to submit a current GAMSAT score. Candidates are eligible to apply on the basis of meeting the academic requirements of holding a 2.1 level 8 degree, places are awarded via the CAO on the basis of GAMSAT scores, i.e the candidate with the highest score gets the first offer, the second highest score gets the second offer and so on until all places are filled.

The tuition fee for EU graduate students is €26,820 per annum. The Higher Education Authority (HEA) pay a €13,000 contribution per annum towards this fee with the student paying the balance of €12,312 per annum.

RCSI has negotiated a 4th Level Loan Package for Irish students with competitive interest rates and flexible terms for amounts of up to €48,000 over a 4 year term with no security required - (third party support or third party guarantees including parental guarantees are not required).

Non EU GEP applicants

Applicants must have completed or expect to complete by the summer of 2009 a batchelors degree programme. Non EU candidates will also be expected to provide competitive MCAT or GAMSAT scores in addition to confidential references and a personal statement. Competive candidates will be shortlisted and invited to attend for interviews which will be held in North America and other suitable location.

The tuition fees for non EU GEP students for the academic year 2008/09 were €45,000.

Non EU applicants (except for those resident in USA or Canada) will be processed through the Admissions Office in Dublin.

Students applying from the USA and Canada should apply directly to our North American advisory agent, the Atlantic Bridge Programme. This office will liaise with you until your application to RCSI is finalised. The Atlantic Bridge Programme are experts in relation to all issues affecting North American students wishing to study medicine in RCSI and can provide you with a wealth of experience to assist you with your application. This advice can include but is not limited to; advice on returning to the USA and Canada after graduation, Federal and Government loans and additional loan options that are available to fund your academic programme and the associated costs of living overseas.
