Master of Science in Nursing (Advanced Leadership) Programme

New Programme from Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery

Purpose of Programme is to:

Provide students with an advanced level of theoretical leadership knowledge deemed relevant to enhancing practice by fostering a questioning approach to knowledge development and professional practice issues.

Programme Aims are to:

Facilitate the development of the nurse in the field of leadership at advanced level thus allowing critical evaluation and synthesis using appropriate research findings. An increasing focus on ‘evidence-based’ practice in nursing has created an environment in which research awareness is essential

Programme Features

  • Innovative content that includes clinically focused modules on reflection-on-practice, clinical judgement, decision-making, clinical supervision and mentorship
  • Innovative approaches to professional and clinical leadership, management, strategy and quality in the healthcare environment
  • Focus on contemporary issues in nursing and leadership and healthcare
  • Research methods and Dissertation taught
  • Approval for the programme received from An Bord Altranais
  • Approval granted from the National University of Ireland
  • Expected to commence in September 2010.
  • Programme provided by the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, RCSI
  • Utilises the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI) framework
  • Level 9 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
  • Offered part-time over two academic years. Modular framework
  • Offers six modules in the first year and one module and a dissertation in the second year and a choice of modules are offered
