Eighteenth century short title catalogues

The holdings of the Mercer Library have been surveyed and are included in the Eighteenth Century Short Title Catalogue (ESTC). This international project was established at the British Library in 1977 and is the largest computerised cataloguing project of its kind in the world. The ESTC covers items printed in English-speaking countries or countries under British colonial rule during the eighteenth century, but also items in English printed elsewhere and items with false imprints purporting to have been printed in English-speaking countries. The details of almost two thousand volumes in the Mercer Library have been entered in the ESTC.
