2018

Unfortunately, the unprecedented adverse weather conditions in Ireland resulted in the cancellation of the Faculty's 37th Annual International Nursing & Midwifery Research and Education Conference 2019. The Conference Organising Committee were so very disappointed to cancel our Annual flagship event.

The Faculty were delighted to reschedule the Annual Dinner to April 2018, when Honorary Fellowships were conferred on Mr Liam Doran and Mr Keith Wood, in recognition of Liam's outstanding contribution to the nursing and midwifery professions in Ireland and Keith's contribution to the health of the nation in Ireland, as Inaugural Chair of the Healthy Ireland Council.

2017 

The 36th Annual International Nursing & Midwifery Research and Education Conference 2017

The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland hosts an Annual International Nursing and Midwifery Research and Education Conference. This Conference is now in its 36th year and as such is one of the oldest conferences in Europe. This conference provides an important forum for practising nurses and midwives, students, researchers and academics to network, exchange ideas on current research and best clinical practice and ultimately use this up-to-date information to contribute to the enhancement of patient care at the bedside.
The Conference will take place on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd March 2017.

Opening Ceremony- Wednesday 1st March

The Conference Opening Ceremony takes place on Wednesday evening and an Opening Address will be delivered by Mr Niall Breslin. This will be followed by the Honorary Fellowship Conferring and the Annual Dinner. The Faculty will award three Honorary Fellowships, to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and outstanding work across both nursing and midwifery and strongly influenced and impacted on society.
We are delighted to announce that Honorary Fellowships will be awarded to:
o Mr Niall Breslin, Mental Health Advocate, Musician and Former Leinster Rugby Player;
o Ms Emily Logan, Chief Commissioner of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission;
o Mr John Murray, Vice President Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
 

 Annual Conference Day-Thursday 2nd March

The Annual Conference will take place on Thursday 2nd March 2017. Keynote and Plenary papers will be delivered by renowned National and International speakers, addressing the professional values of Nursing & Midwifery. Concepts such as Person-Centred Care, Compassion, Dignity and Caring will be explored by nurse and midwife researchers and policy makers and an opportunity will be provided for delegates to engage with presenters and ask questions at the end of each of these addresses.
Concurrent research papers, covering a diverse range of professional, clinical, methodological, leadership and policy issues, will also be presented on the day. A wide variety of Poster Presentations will also be available for viewing in the Exhibitor Hall.
Refreshments will be provided to delegates attending the Conference and delegates will have ample opportunities to speak with exhibitors who will be displaying a range of products.

2016

The 35th Annual International Nursing & Midwifery Research and Education Conference took place in RCSI on 2 and 3 March 2016.

The conference opened on the evening of Wednesday, 2 March 2017 and included the opening ceremony, opening address, and the Honorary Fellowship Conferring.

Honorary Fellowships were awarded to Ms Norah Casey, TV and radio presenter, author and Chairwoman, Harmonia Publishing; Dr Diane Cooney-Miner, Professor of Nursing and Dean, Wegman’s School of Nursing, St John Fisher College, Rochester, New York and Ms Anna Shakespeare, CEO, St Michael’s House.

The Conference took place on Thursday, 3 March 2016. Keynote and plenary addresses along with concurrent papers in a diverse range of topics, along with a Commemorative Address for the Centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising focused on Nurse Elizabeth O’ Farrell and her role in the 1916 Easter Rising.

2015

34th Annual International Nursing & Midwifery Research & Education Conference took place in RCSI on 18-19 February 2015.

The Conference opened on the evening of Wednesday, 18 February and included the opening ceremony, opening address, and the Honorary Fellowship Conferring.

Honorary Fellowships were awarded to Princess Muna Al-Hussein of Jordan, Ms Rachel McLeod of The Rose Project and Mr Paul Gallagher, President, Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland.

The Conference took place on Thursday, 19 February 2015 and included a Ministerial Address by Dr Leo Varadkar TD, Minister for Health; keynote and plenary addresses along with concurrent papers in a diverse range of topics.

 

2014

The 33rd Annual International Nursing & Midwifery Research & Education Conference took place in RCSI on 19 and 20 February 2014.

The Conference opened on the evening of Wednesday, 19 February 2014 and included the opening ceremony, opening address, the conferring of an Honorary Fellowship and a black tie dinner.

The Conference took place on Thursday, 20 February 2014 and included keynote, plenary and closing addresses along with concurrent papers in a diverse range of topics.
