40th Anniversary Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery

The Faculty was delighted to celebrate its 40th Anniversary on 29 October 2014.

A special event took place to mark this anniversary and in the company of a large invited audience, the Faculty awarded an honorary Fellowship and launched a book entitled The History of the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery 1974-2014.

Honorary Fellowship Award to Mr Keith Duffy, 29 October 2014

Mr Keith Duffy graciously accepted the invitation of the Board of the Faculty to receive the Honorary Fellowship of the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery in recognition of his special cause for children with autism, which was approved by the President and Council of the College and the Board of the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery.

Launch of the History of the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery

The History of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery 1974-2014 was launched during the Conferring Ceremony on 29 October by the authors, Prof. Marie Carney, Dean; Prof. Thomas Kearns, Executive Director of Faculty and Dr John Adams, Cambridge University, Fellow of the Faculty and noted historian.

Videos to celebrating 40 years of the Faculty

Six recorded interviews were held in the college with Faculty Board members, key personnel professional leaders and key influencers. The purpose of these interviews was to review the legacy of the Faculty and to look to the potential future of the Faculty based on changes in professional legislation, education, practice and health care reform.

The interviewees were:
