outhern California-based Paul Maguire and
Siobhan Gogan (both Class of 1983) and their
daughters, recent graduates Sinead (Class of
2012) and Ailbhe (Class of 2014) are all RCSI
alumni with a strong sense of connection to the
College. Paul and Siobhan told RCSI Matters why their
RCSI links are important to the family.
RCSI MATTERS:
Could you outline your early
connections with the College? I believe that you and
Paul first met at RCSI in Dublin?
SIOBHAN:
We both met on the first day of college in 1977.
I came over from Chicago to Ireland to do a pre-university
course in Merrion Square. Both my parents were from Dublin
and had emigrated to Chicago in the 1950s. My dad was a
medical school graduate from Trinity.
PAUL:
I was born in California to Irish emigrants who also
came to California in the 1950s. Both parents were medical
school graduates from UCG. In the early `70s, they returned
to Dublin and I went to Glenstal before doing a pre-
university course at Ringsend.
