Overview

This one-day course will provide participants an opportunity to further enhance their initial management of the severely injured trauma patient.

Current concepts in modern trauma management will be discussed.

Learning objectives

  • Participants will be able to understand and apply modern thinking in trauma Management beyond ATLS
  • Understand principles of modern trauma management
  • Recognise, anticipate and manage potential airway problems
  • Perform critical life saving procedures in difficult airway
  • Perform chest tube thoracostomy
  • Manage the suspected spinal injured patient
  • Obtain vascular access in difficult circumstances
  • Interpret trauma X-rays and imaging
  • Operate as a trauma team in a simulated trauma setting
