Ed-i-Med 2017 Resilience
The inaugural Ed-i-Med symposium – an International Medicine & Health Professions Education Symposium aimed at medicine and health professions educators, clinicians, scientists and administrators from higher education and healthcare institutions – took place on Tuesday 20 June 2017 at RCSI St Stephen's Green.
Building Resilience as Healthcare Leaders
The audience included representatives from the medicine and health professions challenged with enabling students to become resilient as they transition from their undergraduate healthcare training setting to hospital, clinical and laboratory settings across the globe. Our keynote speaker for this event was Professor Lotte N. Dyrbye from Mayo Clinic. Her biography is available here.
Dates for the 7th International Education Forum and the 2nd Ed-i-Med Symposium 2018 will be announced in September 2017. The theme for the 2018 Ed-i-Med Symposium will be ‘Experiential Learning Through Simulation'.
Background
RCSI's 6th International Education Forum (IEF) took place in June 2017. This event originated in 2012 as a forum to bring our Dublin and International Faculty together to discuss curriculum, assessment and medical education innovation. International keynote speakers have presented each year on contemporary issues in medical and health professions education. This year we were pleased to evolve the IEF through integration with the inaugural Ed-i-Med symposium.
