Colles Portal
The Colles Portal is an innovative, web-based system designed to support the training and assessment of surgical trainees in Ireland.
The introduction of the portal in 2010 means that from any web-enabled computer, all the key stakeholders can access the required information and complete all the steps necessary to support surgical training.
This significant accomplishment will includes over 1,200 users, who will vary from Trainees, to Trainers and Programme Directors, the Medical Council, the Specialty Advisory Committees, and the HSE Medical Manpower Managers. The portal provides different functionality to each of these user groups and for first time enables these groups to collaborate using a single tool.
The portal's key functionality is in the areas of trainee assessments, training post management and inspections, the allocation or matching trainees to training posts, committee management and the management of Continuous Medical Education.
