Productive Ward – Update and Refresh
This short programme is designed to re-invigorate nursing teams who have commenced the productive ward QI programme by refreshing module content, revisiting the methods and tools that are used using a shared, experiential learning approach. The Productive Ward: Releasing Time to Care™, quality improvement initiative, was implemented in Ireland in 2010, enabling staff to make improvements through the redesigning and streamlining of the way staff and services deliver care with an emphasis on patient safety.

Programme aims
- To allow registered nurses and midwives re-visit the evidenced based modules and programme content to further enhance and critically develop nurses’ theoretical and practical understanding of this ward-based QI programme.
- To support registered nurses and midwives involved in the productive ward programme in enhancing their confidence, skills and competences, with regard to rolling out and sustaining the ward-based QI programme.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this CPD programme, participants will be able to:- Critically discuss the module content and QI methods.
- Critically reflect on and assess their own current programme status.
- Identify, critically analyse and mitigate issues that have affected progress.
- Critically discuss a roll-out plan that will sustain the initiative for implementation.
