Cardiovascular disease and platelet biology

The MCT cardiovascular disease and platelet biology pillar includes the work of seven principal investigators directing independent and collaborative research programmes.

These researchers contribute to programmes which span both basic science and translational research in keeping with the RCSI research strategy. Specific areas of exploration include thrombosis, the role of platelets in cancer, identification of subjects at high risk of cardiovascular events, the role of platelets in innate immunity, biomarkers of plaque eruption, platelets in a redox environment and cardiovascular infection, as well as cellular mechanics and vascular mechanobiology.
